Relentlessly pursued by match-making mamas and their charges, Simon Bassett, the handsome Duke of Hastings, has grown tired of the societal chase. Tired too is the lovely Daphne Bridgerton, whose matrimonially minded mother is set on finding her daughter the perfect husband. Neither Simon nor Daphne is happy with this annoying state of affairs and both would give anything for a little peace and quiet. Their mutual wish for a respite from the ton's marriage mart leads to a pretend engagement--a scheme that is threatened with exposure by Daphne's suspicious older brother, who happens to know Simon's way with women very well.
The two never anticipated that a mutual attraction would lead to the very thing they set out to avoid--a wedding. But Simon fears that his painful past may keep him from being able to truly love anyone. And though Daphne cares for him deeply, she won't settle for anything less than his heart.
Well,I was really hoping to read this book because I've read many positive reviews about it...This is the first book about the Bridgerton family and it tells the story of Daphne, the 4th Bridgerton "child"...It was very funny to read it...Both Daphne and her older brother Anthony had lists maid by their mother Lady Bridgerton of possible suiters for getting married...But neither of them wanted to think of marriage and they always tried to escape...But that was until Daphne met Simon, Anthony's best friend...Simon became everything that she always wanted and so after some funny atempts of protection by her 3 older brothers Daphne got married to Simon...but with their marriage came Simon's problems...Problems that only Daphne could help him to resolve.

Synopsis:
Julian Kane is back in town.
Once, as a girl of seventeen, beautiful, headstrong Portia Cabot saved the cursed life of the dashing vampire Julian Kane-who marked her forever, then left to go in search of his soul. He returns five years later to find the enchanting young girl he left behind grown into a bewitching woman with a woman's heart . . . and a woman's desires.
Portia quickly discovers that Julian's seductive and forbidden kiss can still make her crave the night . . . and his touch. But the Julian who has returned to London is not the vampire she remembers. His fruitless pursuit of his stolen mortality has reduced him to drunken debauchery. And a recent spate of murders makes Portia fear that the man she has always adored may truly be a monster.
Julian knows he must drive Portia away-but his passion and hunger for her grow more irresistible every time they touch. For years he has fought the temptation to embrace his dark gifts, never realizing that Portia's love may give him the most dangerous gift of all . . . a reason to live.
This is the sequel to After Midnight and in here we read the story about Portia and Julian...I'm afraid I haven't read the first one but as soon as I read about this one in the amazon site I was very anxious to read it. Well, in the beginning I thought that it was a bit disapponited but as I started reading I couldn't stop it...It kept me curious about how it was going to end..."They had to be together by the end" I thought...But how?...You'll find out after you read it :)

Synopsis:
Elenora Lodge loses the manor to which she was born and thus becomes the eponymous paid companion. She is, of course, plucky, intellectual, democratic, lovely and unabashedly eager to surrender her virginity to the right man: "Sensation whipped through her; a glorious, heady, dizzying whirlpool of passion. She knew that if she did not explore these thrilling emotions with him she would carry the regret with her for the rest of her life."
The source of the whirlpool is Arthur Lancaster, earl of St. Merryn, cranky, quirky, decent to the death, with a sizable fortune and lusty nature to match. Although a happy ending is never in doubt, a murder mystery is threaded through the love story, allowing the besotted couple to sleuth in dark alleyways between tumbles in bed. Quick draws on Regency fascination with science to inform villainous madman Parker, who styles himself "England's second Newton" and terrorizes Elenora with a precursor of the laser. Masked balls, upper-class gambling, women who manage their own affairs and marry for love: if this is familiar territory, it still satisfies. And when Arthur proposes, readers will be right there with Elenora: "The most delicious sense of joy unfurled within her."
My review: Well, this one was captive...I was so intrigued about the mystery...I was a bit refreshing from several books that I already read...From the beggining we know that they will fall in live for each other...but it is very amusing to read their atempts to hide it...lovely story...

Eclipse - Stephenie Meyer

Book review: 8/10
Category: Vampire romance
Language: English
Format: Hardcover
Page Number: 600

Publication Date: 2007-10-04
Synopsis:
'Bella?' Edward's soft voice came from behind me. I turned to see him spring lightly up the porch steps, his hair windblown from running. He pulled me into his arms at once, and kissed me again. His kiss frightened me. There was too much tension, too strong an edge to the way his lips crushed mine - like he was afraid we had only so much time left to us.
As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?
Following the international bestsellers Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse is the much-anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer's captivating saga of vampire romance.
After reading the previous two books I was very anxious to know how the story would continue... I asked to one of my friends to buy it for me but she surprised me by offering it to me :) She was very sweet to do it... 600 pages...well, that didn't scared me. But,anyway, this book was about the choice Bella had to make...and now I can't wait to read the last of the series, Breaking Dawn where I think Bella and Edward will get married because in Eclipse they got engaged and she will finally be turned to a vampire so that she can be with her love for eternity...*sigh*
But...one thing that I didn't enjoy was the fact that it seemed like the story had stopped...It looked as if Bella couldn't decided what was obvious for us readers...that her heart belonged to Edward...but that Jacob had become a very good friend that perhaps if she hadn't met Edward they could had something more than a simple friendship.

Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he’d ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world. How could she have known that a tumble down a Highland ravine would send her plunging into an underground cavern — to land atop the most devastatingly seductive man she’d ever seen? Or that once he’d kissed her, he wouldn’t let her go? Bound to Drustan by a passion stronger than time, Gwen is swept back to sixteenth-century Scotland, where a treacherous enemy plots against them ... and where a warrior with the power to change history will defy time itself for the woman he loves....
This was my first book from Karen Marie Moning and I absolutly loved it...The story is very funny and emocional at the same time...I'm looking forward to reading her next books about the sexy Highlanders :)
